230v pwm 2

Applies a pwm on a 230VAC source. (Use with caution). I recommend using an optocoupler to trigger the mosfet in order tho keep the power away from the Signal lane. And as hurz clarified you need to filter it well so the net wont get messed with the chopping frequency.

This is for many reasons not allowed, chopper which emitts the chopper frequency into the power network directly. At least it needs a rectification and some filter to block the current. This is a transmitter on any frequency above 1kHz.

@hurz i added some filtering but now its less efficient. What exactly do you mean with the 1khz? would this be legal since its not above 1khz?

If you do it at 0.5Hz or slower it is probably allowed, think about electric heater switching on off in minutes or oven in seconds. But not in kHz

Most VSD/VFDs work on this principle, mind you there is some pretty serious filtering between the device and the mains and the power leads to the device under power are shielded.

Ive added some filtering to it now the pulled current doesnt look that fucked up

The nice thing with a filter is, you can now even go up in chopper frequency which makes it easier to build a filter with low capacitance and low inductivity.

yeah thanks

Because, 10uF at mains is quite expensive and big capacitor. 50mH is also big and with some Q expensive and will have some significant R >1 Ohm
