I'm watching whats happening and you're pulling 1 amp into the 555 timer, destroying it.

Have a think about relay coils and back emf.

Diodes definitely clamp the back EMF but the trade off is that once the relay coils are actuated, they hold this state until power is removed from the circuit. It would appear as though the resistance and or other properties of diodes including Zener diodes won’t allow the relay coils to deactivate, no amount of relay coil tweaking solves the problem ether.
