This is meant to demonstrate the rotating magnetic field within the windings of a 4 pole, 3 phase induction motor. In the stator on the left, each lamp represents one winding, 3 in each pole, 12 total.
In the stator on the right, each lamp is now represented by a pair of LEDs, one Blue and one Green. one color will represent a positive field and one will represent negative. With this, you can see how there are 2 positive and 2 negative fields which rotate.
