This was a class project in a community college PLC class. It is a basic start/stop circuit which is what the light does. Then later we added a forward /reverse circuit to power a motor and used LEDs to indicate direction. Then a second relay was added to make two N.O. contact (limit switches) to toggle the start stop relay circuit. If you can image an object closing either of the limit switches it would change direction.
