This circuit takes inputs like 1000000, 1100000, 1110000, ... etc and translates them to binary. Can be used in simple ADCs. This particular example answers the question raised by njolico in his "7 bit adder" circuit. Note also that this circuit gives the same result when the order of the input bits is reversed.

thanks! It was just a quick example. With only XORs, it cannot be reduced further, right? It can have another layout, but to have less than 6 XORs is impossible, right?
