Lets say its a voltage pump, in this case it does not doubles it does add two times 5V to the start voltage of 5V. Without losses it does reach 15V

The circuit is called 'doubler' but it actually doesn't double, just shift up the voltage

if you do one stage (two diodes) it does Supply + supply = 2*supply or a doubler. With two stages it is as i said a trippler. It depends on the number of stages how many times you add the supply voltage. A voltage pump or better adder, but multiplier sounds much cooler. I know that many users expect multipilation which is the absolut wrong expectation
