Slayer with Interrupter for longer arcs. Keeps transistor from overheating too and lowers current draw. Wait a few seconds after hitting play for the circuit sim and itll start. Here is a video of me using this circuit to drive a tesla coil transformer. The supply voltage powering the circuit is 40Vdc. Ive not measured the total current; I would estimate around 5A but could be higher. The power supply used in the video can supply a maximum of 8A so the total current has to be less than that. (note: the 555 timer circuit is using a separate power supply than the one powering the slayer exciter circuit. Its using a 12V wall adapter supply that I had laying around. You can do it this way if, like me, you dont have any voltage regulator ICs, but MAKE SURE to connect the negative of the two supplys together or it wont work. If you build this circuit, make sure to plug in the supply to the interrupter first, then turn on power to the slayer. otherwise the slayer circuit will overheat before you have time to turn on the interrupter. I burnt up a transistor once already by making that mistake.) https://youtu.be/6-sbDK2e13w
