Digi out is 5v Powersource. This 7 Segment Units have integradet resistors at the LED Segments. Ground isend Drawed on this 7 Segment Displays. Groundwire Defindes low input on the sement inputs.

Νεατ! Z is broken though, it is the same as 2. Perhaps omit top and bottom, or omit middle. G is difficult, sometimes 9 looks like this. Perhaps light top, both left, bottom, and lower right. Less seriously, I prefer W as small u above _. I think I did M as small n over _ too. There is nothing wrong with your X, but I chose Greek xi: Ξ.

Cool, it looks pretty good. :) I think there really is no standard, because there have always been alternatives for (relatively) cheap text displays. From at least the 1960s to 1980s there were displays with 15 (or so) segments in plasma (or neon) or LED. In the '80s, 5x7 dot matrix LCD (with gaps between characters) became common. Then the gaps were filled in to merge with graphical displays.
