Are you sure this is a TX and not RX? It looks very similar to a crystal radio.

Yes, this is TX. Adding two frequencies and apply them to a nonlinearity. In this case a diode. Math is exp(f(a)+f(b)) the output then has infinite frequency products but the most strongest is the product f(a)×f(b) This is probably the most simplest AM modulator. Very nice, gracias!

Only the values for cap and coil are choosen just by math knowledge but not with practical electronic background ;-) i would prefer around 3.3uH and 2nF. Anyway there are more things for a real working one e.g. Q quality of resonator and Voltage.......
