right, with an additional transistor stage the input impedance does match much better and the low corner moved drastical. Whats still a bit messy is the push pull with high idle current and hfe dependend. Im afraid it will cause thermal runaway. Anyway, why not use at that point a standard NPN PNP stage, the old time were we needed to use NPN instead of not available PNP is long over. So this in total is actually a concept which is very very old 1960'

I had seen that output stage in a book last year and I decided to give it a try. I remember hearing a story about op amps being built with nothing but npn because pnp performance was so bad. Interesting history of electronics.
