Der Kondensator besitz im Wechselstromkreis (230V, 50Hz) einen Blindwiderstand von ca. 14k, dieser läst einen Strom von ca. 15mA durch die LED fließen. Der Widerstand R1 begrenzt den Ladestrom des Kondensators. Die Diode D1 liegt antiparallel zur LED und fängt die negative Halbwelle auf.

Sehr schön! Noch besser wäre eine AC Stromversorgung. Aber die Spannung beachten, EC verwendet Spitzenwerte und nicht RMS.

Nebenbei, 1/(2*pi*f*C) ist bei 50Hz 6.77kOhm geometrisch mit 2.2kOhm addiert ergibt das dann 7.1k. 220nF wären zu 14k passender. Wird schon werden ;-)
