Do NOT know why Mims used a 10nF cap across pins 1 and 5? You can take it out and it does nothing? Maybe in the real world it is needed for something?

Some circuits have variable capacitors controlling freq. BUT variable resistors cost less $$$

One more thing, variable resistors are less expensive but not as accurate in frequency positions
