AC -> AC direct frequency converter without a rectified DC intermediate circuit. Input is on the left side, output is in the middle.
I was only able to fit 1 phase in, but if you had 3 of these, you could run a 3 phase AC motor making a variable frequency (to control the motor’s RPM) from a fixed frequency 3 phase power supply.
The entire appeal of a matrix frequency converter is the wide range of output frequencies, but the EveryCircuit canvas is pretty small, so it wasn’t really possible to fit a more complicated driving circuit for a variable output frequency.
In this case it’s a fixed 2:1 ratio … 50Hz input and 25Hz output, but feel free to play around with the pulse generators.
