Inverter concept

An inverter circuit is pretty simple, you just need a transformer and a circuit that oscillates a voltage across it, changing the polarity with a determined frequency. But... There's some problems...

Yes, the main problem being that the transformer doesn't really like to transform a square wave, and the rest of the circuit isn't really that fond of the output of the transformer either, this is why cheaper inverters us what they call a modified square waveform type of output.

You want the square wave to look like this. It will slightly help get the sine to operate a little more predictable. Adding a a.c. motor to a branch circuit load will help the main circuit create a better sine for other branch circuit loads. https://www.google.com/search?q=inverter+wave&safe=off&client=ms-android-att-us&prmd=isvn&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjcxoPE1orYAhXK5IMKHf-WDCcQ_AUIESgB&biw=360&bih=518&dpr=4#imgrc=sg1GlXAcVeTQYM:

Yep, that is what they call modified square wave. (Some call it modified sine wave).
