Uses a  forward biased silicon diode as a reference voltage. The supply voltage varies between 10 and 14 Volts, but the LED current is constant to 0.1%

diodes are temperatur sensible with -2mV per degree °C. If you calibrate at 20°C and while sunshine the temp goes up to 40°C the current does change for more then 5.5%. If this is acceptable (current will go down while heat up not critical, more critical maybe when temp is going down!)
