Flick the switch in the center to double the output voltage.  This system is commonly utilised in transformer less power supplies as the 120v - 240 v mains switch especially the older computer type. Can sometimes be useful.

Simple but efective. I remember it was very common in the old pc power supplies to double the 120v mains up to 240. Was a cause for many pc supplies going bang because of setting the switch incorrectly.
