Press once it represents 1... twice represents 2...three times 3 and 4 times 4.... with that you will notice with 1 only the first led will be on 2 the second 4 the third and 8 the fourth.... if you assign those values to the led (1,2,4,8) and then add the numbers of the on leds and thats the decimal number it represents eg 1010 in your layout will be 5 (although binary is usually ordered 8421 so that should actually be 10)

Connect a 1K resistor from the floating side of the push button to ground.
