5V-2A adjustable voltage regulator based on the LM723 architecture The LM723 (an adjustable voltage regulator widely used between 1970 and 2000) was designed by Robert Widlar, one of the most influential engineers in the development of linear integrated circuits. Widlar was working at National Semiconductor when he developed the LM723 in the late 1960s. The chip was introduced in 1967, becoming one of the most versatile voltage regulators of its time, used in both linear and switching configurations.
