Alright, so if there are some experts or someone more experienced than myself on here, could you explain this? With the diode situated the way it is, shouldn't the current be unable to pass through? The cathode receives the current before the anode, so shouldn't the current be blocked?

Im not quit sure what you mean but i think you have mixed up physical current with the conventional electronic current (Im not sure about the names tho, sorry). In physics, current goes from minus to plus as current is defined as moved charge. If you take a look on the PN region in the diode in respect to physical current it really works just kind of the other way around as you may think (At least for me). If thats not what you meant im sorry.

No, don’t think so. The current through a diode goes in the direction of the arrow (as in how the schematic diagram for a diode is drawn).

Good question, election flow is from - to + the diode demonstrates this principle perfectly, reverse the diode and the electron flow will cease.

Thank you all for the feedback. @ViolationMad, I think I may be confusing physical current with the current portrayed in the diagram. It seems like the current in the diagram SEEMS to be travelling toward the anode, which is a bit confusing.

You can change the direction animation of current within settings from conventional to the real physical electron flow. But its only the animation it won't have any effect to your circuit!

My God, thank you @Hurz!

Also it pays to add a resistor when trying to analyze circuits like this with just a diode and a power supply, 1k is good.

See the previous post.

Yeah BillyT I'm aware, I was just curious current flow. Found out that the app is set to conventional by default
