LED PWM driver attempt

Attempting to use a 555 to create PWM with a potentiometer to drive led strip. I am not sure if this will work so any insights and help are welcomed!

Set the time base to 1 second for a circuit that will work in real time, there are a number of circuits for 555 PWM on EC just do a search for them.
