Защиту по току устанавливают резистором 470 Ом, изменяя его до 7 кОм.

Схема конечно интересная, но к сожалению есть один недостаток: при увеличении напряжения на входе, например уже на 5V, резко растёт ток через стабилитрон 9.3V, Транзистор и. т.д. Это может привести к перегреву выходу из строя элементов.

Вместо резистора 1 кОм можно поставить полевой транзистор КП103, КП303 с затвором, подключенным к истоку (генератор тока). Это решит проблему.
