This is a schematic of a 2x2x4 LED cube, and represents two 4x2 vertical planes.  The top 8 LEDs are the back plane, and the bottom 8 LEDs are the front plane.  Use this simulation if you are confused about how the cube is wired.  The dots are logical outputs. If you click them they change state
